As these folks will attest, financial planning itself is a non-stop carnival.
You’ve got 2 days left to submit for the Carnival of Financial Planning.
The hell is a Carnival of Financial Planning?
If you’ve been here at Control Your Cash for any length, you probably know what a blog carnival is: an agglomeration of personal finance posts from some good (and some atrocious) personal finance bloggers.
The Carnival of Financial Planning is a little different. The guy who runs it, Larry at The Skilled Investor, has no patience for anything that isn’t stellar. Thus he culls and reduces and separates and discriminates what he receives until he’s left with a workable collection of financial planning articles that he’s happy sharing with the world. Which we’ll do right here this Friday.
Anything else I need to know?
No, not really.
Well, yes: adjustable-rate mortgages are bad. Any online brokerage that offers “heat mapping” and access to pretty charts is playing off your stupidity. The only thing that’ll snowball if you follow Dave Ramsey’s “debt snowball” to the letter is your debt itself. It’s stupid to get excited about a $700 iPad that retails for $300 if you’re not twice as excited about a $200,000 house that you can buy for $199,200. If eating unsalted popcorn for 3 meals a day gets your credit card balance down to zero faster, you should do it and worry about nutrient balance later. These and many other tips in Control Your Cash: Making Money Make Sense, available at fine retailers everywhere.
